Pantone Fall 2014: Mauve Mist

Ametthyst & Purple Banded Agate Coin Pearls Crystal Quartz Bracelets
Lepidolite, amethyst and purple banded agate in a toss with coin pearls, crystal quartz and some old-school Judith Ripka.
With New York Fashion Week in full swing, I know that all of our attention has been thrown to Spring 2015 and the colors for that season – all of which look pretty remarkable. But, come on, if you’re a little bit like me, you live in the real world and we still get to traipse through fall and winter 2014 before those spring colors and fashions hit the arena!

Cape amethyst, vintage Czech glass, jade and crystal quartz in a mix of different textures are a bit unexpected styled with this Judith Ripka bangle.

Personally, fall is my favorite season with winter very close behind. Something about fall – perhaps memories of the old back-to-school days.. New clothes could finally be worn, new haircuts were in order (although why my mom always gave me a Tip Toni the week before school started will always remain an unfortunate mystery to me) and new school supplies -- notebooks, pencils, and pens could be used. Hooray! I'm guessing that many of you may be sporting some jazzy new fashions you scooped up during the past few months just waiting for fall to roll around. Some of those pieces just might have Pantone’s Mauve Mist in the mix.

However, if you pretty much stick to basic colors in your frocks (raises her hand) -- you can still flash a bit of the trendy colors in your jewelry. While it is always possible to style your jewelry to highlight current trends, the good news is that most of the jewelry that comes out of the studio here, because of its rockhound/gemstone nature, is not trendy. I do strive to make it classic in an interesting way. And, don't be fooled by the prices...even though it is quite affordable in comparison to similar products in the market, it is not disposable "young kid" jewelry. Believe me when I say that you'll be able to wear it for many years to come -- that is my intention in its design. One final thing...since I make only a handful of each design, you won’t see yourself coming and going. Unless you are still in the Brownies, that's a very good thing, isn’t it?

Lilac and aqua lampwork beads and freshwater coin pearls are right on the edge of Mauve Mist -- their beautiful neutral nature gives you plenty of styling options.
P.S. The best news about Pantone's Mauve Mist is that it can be tossed with many colors; some quite unexpected. If you haven't looked at Pantone's Fashion Color Report Fall 2014 check it out on the Pantone website. It's great inspiration -- I always love the illustrations.
